READY TO SERVE

State convention staff available to serve churches

Southern Baptists of Texas Convention exists to facilitate, extend, and enlarge the Great Commission ministries of the Southern Baptist Convention and the Southern Baptist churches and associations in Texas, upon the authority of God’s inerrant Word, to the glory of God the Father, under the lordship of Jesus Christ, and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. Here are the ministry staff and ministry staff, field ministry facilitators and consultants that are available to help Southern Baptists throughout Texas.

FACILITATING MINISTRIES
Jim Richards is executive director with responsibility for the daily operation of the SBTC and staff management. He provides leadership in every area of SBTC ministry, while directing facilitating ministries that relate to ministries partners and institutions. He is a member of First Baptist of Fort Worth, and preaches 40-45 Sundays a year in other churches, yet faithfully prays for his pastor and gives above the tithe to his local church.

Jim Gatliff directs shared ministry
strategies which includes the Ezekiel
Project, cowboy and country churches, and associational church planting strategies. He is a member of First Baptist Colleyville.

Mike Gonzales is a senior associate
with responsibility for directing the Hispanic Initiative and ethnic ministries, including conferences for men, women, couples, singles, and also as the Spanish sessions of the annual Empower and state convention meetings, youth week at Alto Frio Camp. He plans the Hispanic regional Leadership Conference and participates in Hispanic information meetings upon the invitation of local churches. He supervises the Hispanic Educational Superhighway program, working with Southwestern Seminary, Southwestern College, Criswell College and Jacksonville College to provide theological study for Hispanic Baptists affiliated with SBTC, administers scholarships to Hispanic students. Mike is a member of First Baptist of Colleyville where he participates in Mission Colleyville outreach and follow-up team and assists with Iglesia Bautista de Colleyville.

OPERATIONS & FINANCIAL
Joe Davis is Chief Financial Officer.
He is available to churches in regard
to church contributions, Convention
accounting practices, Convention
budget questions, general accounting and ministerial tax questions. Joe is a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Grapevine where he is a deacon and is involved in outreach ministry.

CHURCH MINISTRIES
Jim Wolfe is director of church ministries with responsibility for helping churches and associations with all on-going ministries and church growth. Jim is a member of Calvary Hill Baptist in Mesquite and regularly serves as a supply preacher as well as interim pastor throughout the state.

Craig Beall is church ministries associate, assisting churches with ministries to Sunday School, small groups, discipleship, children, facility consultation, and general leadership. He is a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Grapevine and serves as young adult Sunday School director.

Lance Crowell is church ministries
associate with responsibility for ministry to college students, men, single adults, and families. He is a member of First Baptist of Watauga where he helped develop a young adult ministry, teaches young adults and young married couple’s class, discipleship training, and occasionally supply preaches.

Ken Lasater is church ministries associate with responsibility for worship and music education, youth education and youth ministry leadership training, senior adult ministries, using creative arts for worship and missions and shared responsibilities with a number of other events and areas. He coordinates the Breathe Deep retreat, an annual gathering for ministry staff and spouses. Ken is a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Grapevine where he is involved in teaching discipleship classes, worship and student ministries, church drama and missions.

COMMUNICATIONS
Gary Ledbetter is director of
communications and public relations,
serving as editor of the TEXAN and CROSSROADS, the SBTC website and answers general questions about the ministry of the convention. Gary is a member of Inglewood Baptist in Grand Prairie where he teaches Royal
Ambassador Lads, an adult Sunday School class, and a retirement center Bible study.


Jerry Pierce is communications
associate, serving as managing editor
of the TEXAN, while also working in a communications role to SBTC and its constituents. He is a member of RockPointe Church, Flower Mound where he teaches a third-grade boys Sunday School class and facilitates a home group Bible study.

MINISTER/CHURCH RELATIONS
Troy Brooks directs minister/church relations in order to encourage pastors, serve churches and partner with associations. He and minister/church relations associate Tom Campbell assist pastors to provide insurance and retirement coverage through GuideStone Financial Resources, plan the annual Bible conference, Paul/Timothy conferences and annual pastor wives retreat, provide counseling and conflict mediation, partner with associations in ministry projects and training, arrange for supply preaching, pastor search training, information meetings, Next Step resume services, pastoral supplements, promote the Cooperative Program, and gathering Annual Church Profile surveys. While both men are traveling most Sundays preaching in Texas churches,Troy is a member of Lamar Baptist in Arlington. Campbell is a member of Memorial Baptist in Grapevine.

Three ministry staff members coordinate the work in regions beyond the area where SBTC’s Grapevine office is located. Each one serves as a first point of contact for the local churches as well as assisting associations to provide resources and materials. They encourage churches to begin new missions and help churches see the potential of reaching out globally.

Kyle Cox, Area Ministry Coordinator for South Texas, is a member of Eastside Baptist in New Braunfels.
T.C. Melton, Area Ministry Coordinator for West Texas, is a member of Elmcrest Baptist in Abilene.
Casey Perry, Area Ministry Coordinator for East Texas, is a member of First Baptist in Malakoff.

MISSIONS
Robby Partain is director of Missions, providing overall leadership and supervision of the missions team which has assignments of church planting, disaster relief, and missions mobilization /education. He is a member of Fielder Road Baptist Church in Arlington where he is a small group leader and Bible teacher.

Terry Coy is senior church planting
strategist, leading the church planting team in the missions department. He has overall responsibility for church planting strategies and implementation. Terry is a member of The Dwelling Place in Arlington, where he has served as a Bible Study teacher and currently is serving as interim of a Hispanic church.

Barry Calhoun is a church planting associate who assists sponsoring churches and associational directors of missions with starting new churches in Central Texas and East Texas. He is a member of North Garland Baptist Fellowship in Garland where he is missions director and pre-membership
instructor

Jim Richardson is director of Disaster Relief. He assists churches as they provide ministry in response to disasters and provides training opportunities for volunteers. Jim is a member of Pleasant Grove Cowboy Church in Decatur and is
involved in event ministry and supply preaching.

Tiffany Smith is missions mobilization
associate, helping churches engage, teach, and equip churches to give and go on mission at each level of Acts 1:8. She is a member of Center Point Community Baptist in North Richland Hills.

EVANGELISM
Don Cass is director of evangelism, seeking to encourage and equip pastors and staff ministers to equip believers of all ages to do the work of evangelism. He plans conferences and schools of evangelism to help associations and churches reach their field of influence with the gospel. He is a member of Birchman Baptist in Fort Worth and teaches a Bible study in his home on Thursday nights for neighbors.


Jack Harris is senior associate for personal and event evangelism, helping churches with training members in personal evangelism and witness training, as well as planning some type of event evangelism such as citywide crusades, block parties, or men's and women's events. He is a member of First Baptist in Euless where he is involved in evangelism ministry.

Brad Bunting is student evangelism
associate, leading student evangelism
events, providing training and resources. He is a member of Memorial Baptist in Grapevine where he has been involved in leadership training and men’s ministry. Brad regularly serves as a supply preacher and leads revivals around the state.
