Non-SBC churches are verified by a Field Representative (verification form is returned to the Executive Office).
SBC churches are verified through SBC Workspace.
SBTC Staff holds an information meeting at the church.

Churches having completed Steps 1-3 are presented, one at a time, to the Credentials Committee at a regularly scheduled meeting.
The committee examines each request and if all requirements are met, recommends churches for affiliation to either (a) the Executive Board or (b) messengers gathered at the annual session of the convention.
A list of churches recommended by the Credentials Committee is presented for a vote to either (a) the Executive Board or (b) messengers gathered at the annual session of the convention.
Upon an affirmative majority vote, churches become affiliated.
Affiliated churches continue to operate under the doctrinal parameters of the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
Affiliated churches continue to cooperate with the work of the convention.
