Paul says in 2 Corinthians 5:16-21 that God has given us the message of reconciliation for the world; therefore, we, His church, have been given an incredible privilege of being His ambassadors. According to Webster’s dictionary, an ambassador is “an authorized representative or messenger.” If you think about it, why aren’t we taken to heaven the moment of our salvation? The answer is because the Lord still has work here on earth for us to do. He has chosen and commissioned us to advance the Kingdom and share the good news of Jesus Christ around the globe.

If you have genuinely repented of your sin, put your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and called upon His name to save you, then you’re a Christian. According to 2 Corinthians 5:17, old things have passed away, new things have come, and the Spirit of God lives within you. Since the Holy Spirit resides in us, we don’t need to be fearful of sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with others. The Lord is sufficient. He is going to take care of the work in the person’s heart with whom we share. We are simply to be obedient by being His mouthpiece. He doesn’t need us, but He chose to include us in His work. We just need to be ready moment by moment to carry His message, this witness, to those the He places in our path.

I may be speaking with someone who is a friend, an acquaintance, or a stranger. I may not know her background, what her culture is like, what her gifts and talents and abilities are, but that is okay. All I need to do is have a normal conversation about common, everyday things and ask the Lord for an opportunity to insert one simple truth that will change and center the conversation towards Christ, which could possibly allow for a deeper and fuller conversation. As Christians we’re called to plant seeds. Other people will hopefully come behind us and water the seeds, or the Lord may give us an opportunity to come back and water the seeds ourselves. It is up to the Lord to bring the harvest. We don’t need to feel pressure to persuade or argue with others to win them over to the Lord.

One thing is for sure, hearts are already prepared all around us. Jesus said in John 4:35, “Don’t you say, ‘There are still four more months, then comes the harvest’? Listen to what I’m telling you: Open your eyes and look at the fields, for they are ready for harvest.” The best investment you can make with your life is sharing the good news of Jesus Christ.

Prayer: Father, what a privilege it is to be Your ambassador. Open my eyes to those around me  in need of the Savior and help me to take advantage of the opportunities You give me in day-to-day conversations to share about the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Amen.
